Japanese auto major Mitsubishi in partnership with Hindustan Motors has launched their new updated sports utility vehicle (SUV) Montero.

The two companies said that the Mitsubishi Montero would be available in India as a completely imported unit.

Shinichi Kurihara, general manager of Mitsubishi added: The all new Montero brings to India leading edge SUV technology and features. This car will replace the existing model which was till recently being marketed in India??.

He added: All learning on performance, durability and safety from Mitsubishis continuous win in the Dakar car rally has been incorporated in the new Montero. Montero still remains one of our most selling cars worldwide. Since its inception in 1982, we have sold about 2.5 million units worldwide. We are hopeful about the Indian market as well.

The latest model made available in the Indian market features a 3.2 liter turbo charged engine that generates a torque of 383 Newton meter. It comes loaded with a five-speed gearbox and a four-wheel drive system controlled by a microprocessor.

Mitsubishi Montero is available in a single version in the Indian market and it would retail for Rs. 34 lakhs. They are aiming to sell 30-40 units per month of Mitsubishi Montero.
