2001 Nissan Primera p11-144 1.6 problems

Name:geoff cole
Location:United Kingdom, somerst, bristol
Vehicle:Nissan Primera
Year:2001
Problems:On the weekend my trusty 2001 1.6 p11 -144 came to a sudden stop

I had to leave it over night and get recovery the following day. I flattened the battery trying to start it the previous evening but the recovery guy power packed it and it started first time.
As the engine light was still on he transported me home.

I had the fault code read and cleared P0335 crankshaft position sensor, took the car for a run and about 4miles it stopped again and will now not start at all.

I checked both crank and cam sensor connectors and I am getting battery power from the red of both harness connectors.

I removed number one coil pack and tried a spare spark plug to ground but got no spark at all on cranking. ( Do you think this is most likely a duff crank sensor)

I undid the crank sensor retaining bolt and managed to get it to move a little left and right but cant seem to get it past the engine bracket, should it just pull out or am not doing it correctly?

Also when cranking the engine over, the rev counter does not move at all??????

Any help would be much appreciated
