Arrow Volkswagen recalls 2440 Chinese manufactured cars

China: Recall for the Volkswagen Passat Lingyu

Sources with Shanghai Volkswagen revealed that the recalled models were produced between August 11 and August 24. Shanghai Volkswagen said it would reconfigure the problematic parameters of the central controller and restore its function free of charge.

Established in 1984, Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Co is a joint venture in which Volkswagen has 50% stake, while Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp, or SAIC holds the other 50%. Volkswagen was the first major foreign car manufacturer to penetrate into the Chinese market.

Shanghai Volkswagen ranked the third amongst China's passenger-car makers by sales last year, with sales of 340,600 vehicles.
