Bonhomme leads field in Toyota Southern Classic
Bonhomme leads field in Toyota Southern Classic Overnight leader Andrew Bonhomme (QLD) has held his lead in the Toyota Southern Classic at Woolooware Golf Club. Through 54 holes Bonhomme is at 11-under-par, one stroke clear of Julian Reynolds (NSW) and Tim Wise (VIC). Bonhomme struggled early in his round recording a double bogey at the second hole before birdies at three, five and eight saw him make the turn at one under par. Bonhomme could only manage an even par back nine and had it not been for a double bogey at the long par three seventeenth by young New South Welshman Julian Reynolds, Bonhomme may have found himself chasing the lead. Reynolds held the lead for the majority of the round thanks to a four-under-par front nine before coming unstuck at the tough par 3 seventeenth. Currently in his final year of a PGA Traineeship Reynolds is establishing himself as a player of the future and boasts the unique credential as the only player to win consecutive National PGA Futures Championships. Defending champion Marc Leishman is still in contention at 8-under-par after consistent rounds of 69-65-68. Capable of shooting low numbers, Leishman will be looking to repeat his opening round of the 2006 Toyota Southern Classic where he shot ten-under-par if he is to become the first player to win consecutive Toyota Southern Classic???‚¬?„?s. The final group of Bonhomme, Reynolds and Wise will tee off at Woolooware at 11:30am. Source: PGA of Australia |
