Arrow Toyota??™s top US exec says politics won??™t change business plan

DETROIT (AP) -- Toyota knows there could be some political blowback from Capitol Hill as it claws it way to the top at the expense of U.S. automakers.

But the companys top North American executive says that wont change Toyotas way of doing business.

Jim Press says the Japanese automaker is always looking at the consequences of the disparity between its performance and its American competitors.

He told reporters today that Toyota isnt encroaching on the Detroit Threes territory. He says Toyota is doing a better job of meeting demand at this point.

Toyotas largest plant in North America is in Georgetown, Ky.

Toyotas sales were up 12.9% last year while the total number of cars sold in the U.S. was down 2.6%.
