Arrow Toyota to display new Vios and Yaris at Auto Guangzhou 2007

Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announced today that it is displaying 42 concept and production vehicles at the 5th China (Guangzhou) International Automobile Exhibition (also known as Auto Guangzhou 2007), which opened this morning and runs until November 26, at the Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center. The 42 Toyota and Lexus vehicles on display is the largest number ever for TMC at the Guangzhou event.

During a press conference at the show today, TMC Senior Managing Director Akira Sasaki told reporters: "Toyota is committed to accelerating the expansion of its business operations in China, while making product quality a top priority and developing new and improved environmental and safety technologies. We are also actively engaged in social contribution activities geared to the needs of China, and we want to do our utmost to be accepted by Chinese society as a good corporate citizen."

The Toyota and Lexus booths are displaying a full lineup of production vehicles, from compact cars to SUVs, in order to demonstrate TMC's ability to meet the rapidly diversifying needs of consumers. Highlights of the Toyota booth include the Yaris, production of which is slated to begin in Guangzhou around the middle of next year, the redesigned Vios and Land Cruiser and the newly introduced FJ Cruiser. Highlights of the Lexus booth include the new LX570, a high-end SUV. In addition, environmentally considerate hybrid models are on display, including the Prius, the LS600hL, the GS450h and the RX400h.

There are also display areas that introduce Toyota's advanced environmental and safety technologies. The safety technology area features the body of the Camry, which has earned a five-star rating under the China New Car Assessment Program (C-NCAP) safety standards introduced last year, as well as other display items to comprehensively communicate TMC's high safety performance. In the environmental technology area, concept vehicles are on display, including the "Hybrid X" hybrid concept car and a cutaway model of the engine used in the LS600h.
