Toyota Tundra one of America's most popular US-made vehicles

An online automotive sales index has identified the Toyota Tundra as one of the best-selling vehicles built in America -- thanks, in part, to the new Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas Inc. plant in San Antonio.

For the first time, the Tundra, which is built at facilities in Princeton, Ind., and San Antonio with parts made primarily in American factories, has made it onto Cars.com 's American Made Index.

Each year, the American Made Index identifies the top 10 models of vehicles that are truly American -- in terms of where parts are produced -- and their popularity with Cars.com buyers.

The top produced "American" vehicle, according to the index, is the Ford F-150, which is assembled in Claycomo, Mo., and Dearborn, Mich. The Toyota Camry, which is assembled in Georgetown, Ky., and Lafayette, Ind., ranked second.

The Fort Wayne, Ind., and Pontiac, Mich.-built Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ranked third. The Lordstown, Ohio-built Chevrolet Cobalt ranked fourth and the Wayne, Mich.-built Ford Focus ranked fifth.

The Tundra came in at 10th on the list.

Chicago-based Cars.com works with more than 200 newspapers, television stations and their Web sites to buy and sell new and used vehicles.
