Arrow Toyota Mulls Recall

Toyota Tundra may be recalled

, , ) said Friday it is studying whether it needs to recall its new Tundra pickup sold in the U.S. after receiving reports of a problem with an engine part, a move that could deal a blow to the car maker's reputation for quality.

A problem in production was responsible for the defect, the spokesman added. The auto maker is checking how many of 30,000 5.7-liter, V8 engines used the camshafts provided by an outside supplier. Toyota is looking into how common the problem is before deciding on a recall, he said. The car maker began production of the redesigned Tundra last November in an effort to make inroads into the profitable light-truck segment dominated by U.S. rivals. -By Yoshio Takahashi, Dow Jones Newswires; 813-5255-2929; yoshio.takahashi@dowjones.com
