Renault counts on over 100000 sales in 1 yr of new Twingo
PARIS (Thomson Financial) - Renault expects to sell more than 100,000 models within one year of today's launch of the new Twingo model being today, said executive vice president Patrick Pelata, according to a report.
'200,000 won't be possible; the factory won't be able to produce that many,' he told France Info. The small city car, with prices starting from 8,000 eur for the basic model, will be entirely assembled at Novo Mesto in Slovenia. 'If we had tried to produce it in (Western) Europe, it just wouldn't have happened. It wouldn't have been profitable,' Pelata clarified. The Twingo mark 2 succeeds the original model, of which 2.4 mln have been sold since April 1993. It targets a 'younger, more mas****ne' customer base, Renault said.
