Chevrolet Aveo hatchback

General Motors' redesigned Korean-built Chevrolet Aveo sedan went on sale in the United States last year. But the hatchback version, renamed the Aveo5, continued on unchanged.

GM unveiled the redesigned hatchback version for 2008 at the Frankfurt Auto Show. (In Europe, GM sells only rebadged Daewoo cars, like the Aveo, as Chevrolets.) The new Aveo Hatchback actually leapfrogs the Aveo sedan in design, taking on Cheverolet's new signature horizontally split chrome-free grill.

In Europe, it will be powered by a 1.2 liter 84 horsepower gasoline engine or 1.4 liter 98 horsepower engine. Of course, that doesn't mean it will have either of those engines when it goes on sale here. It will hit European dealerships in March, 2008.
