Arrow Union to fight Chrysler offer

DaimlerChrysler ignoring Kerkorian bid?

Detroit, Michigan - The head of the Canadian Auto Workers Union (CAW) says he will fight billionaire investor Kirk Kerkorian's bid for Chrysler, fearing it will cost thousands of workers their jobs.

CAW president Buzz Hargrove said Kerkorian's Tracinda Corporation has a history of hurting workers.

He said: "We don't have much confidence or trust in him; he's made billions by buying low, cutting jobs and throwing people out of work, then selling."

The CAW represents about 11 000 Chrysler workers in Canada.

Hargrove said the CAW was most interested in suitors who would keep Chrysler intact; he said he'd had no contact with Kerkorian's group, nor would he want any
