Pricing for Ford???‚¬?„?s 2008 Five Hundred Taurus has just been released. Base models are quoted at starting below $24,000 mated to 3.5-liter V-6 engine. Comparably equipped, Ford says the Taurus will be priced thousands of dollars below the competing Toyota Avalon and Chrysler 300 sedans.

For starters, the Taurus will be offered in two trim levels ???‚¬??? SEL and Limited, with the SEL starting at a base price of $23,995. Adding the interior convenience package (6-disc CD changer, dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control, wiper-activated headlamps with auto on/off, 8-way power driver???‚¬?„?s seat and wood grain appearance) will raise the price up to $24,890, and all-wheel-drive models will start at $25,845. An Eddie Bauer edition is also expected to make the scene at some point.

Numbers like these lead us to believe that the revived Taurus will has a shot at catching on with consumers, though we will be interested to see how the model plays out in the long run.
