Ford rolls out new Fiesta

WIDER CHOICE: Scott McCormack, Vice-President, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford India, launching Ford Fiesta 1.4 L ZXI Duratec in Chennai on Wednesday.

CHENNAI: Ford India on Wednesday launched a variant of its sedan Fiesta, one of the six planned by the company, to boost its mid-sized car sales.

Launching the 1.4-litre petrol ZXI version, Ford India Vice President (Marketing, Sales and Service), Scott McCormack, told reporters here that the variant was ideally suited for city driving. The company planned to introduce the car in three petrol and three diesel versions.

The car would cost Rs. 6.30 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai), he said.

"The model, specific to Indian road conditions, has been developed after feedback from customers,'' he said.

"Of the 42,000 cars sold last year, Fiesta's share is over 17 per cent. With the introduction of the new model, sales are likely to go up,'' he said.

The new model will feature either a 1.4-petrol 16V DOHC (double overhead camshaft) engine or 1.48V SOHC (single over-head camshaft) TDCi engine, full chrome surround twin headlamps, front fog lamps and front map reading lights, rear reading lights and glove box lamp. ??” PTI
