TOKYO (Thomson Financial) - Nissan Motor Co has named Alain Dassas, currently the president of Renault SA's Formula One racing team, as the Japanese carmaker's new chief financial officer effective Sept 17, Nissan said Tuesday.

French carmaker Renault has a 44.3 percent stake in the third-largest Japanese carmaker.

During his 24-year career at Renault, Dassas has served in financial, M&A and investor relations positions and has worked with Nissan through his role on the initial Renault-Nissan alliance agreement and his former board membership at Nissan Diesel Co, Nissan said.

Nissan Diesel was formerly the truckmaking arm of Nissan and is now a division of Swedish truckmaker AB Volvo.
