North American streets, as they've just landed in dealerships this past month. However, there's more around the corner for this smaller member of the three-pointed star family, with its latest spin-off, the Estate (or wagon), having just been announced for the upcoming Frankfurt auto show.

In Europe and for much of the world, the compact premium market for station wagons is strong. Typical non-wagon brands have made entries such as Saab (9-3 SportCombi), Cadillac (BLS Wagon) and even Jaguar (X-Type Sportwagon). While these five-door family haulers are very stylish with raked roofs and angled tailgates, one of the big problems that consumers have in this segment is that they lack the cargo space of the traditional boxy shaped wagons. It's gotten to the point that the sedan equivalents have nearly as much cargo space as their wagon counterparts, and in some cases equal space!
