THE Grandaddy of the hot hatch is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year - and to celebrate Volkswagen has launched its most powerful Golf GTi ever.

The new Edition 30 is limited to just 1,500 examples and takes all the best bits from the sublime GTi and then adds another 30bhp, unique body styling and, best of all, retro-style chequered cloth for the seats and a golf ball-shaped gearknob - just like the original which came to the UK in January 1977.
