Arrow Euro NCAP crash results: Dodge Caliber

Euro NCAP Results for Dodge Caliber

Dodge's Caliber has scored four out of five for ***** and child protection in Euro NCAP crash tests.

However, it only scored one point for pedestrian protection.

The testers found that there was insufficient protection in both the driver and passenger airbags to prevent the crash-test dummies from making contact with the steering wheel and dashboard.

The dash also presented a potential hazard to front-seat occupants' knees and thighs.

However, the good news was that the Caliber scored maximum points in the side impact and pole tests (the pole test is designed to test the effectiveness of curtain airbags, which protect the driver's head in a side impact).

To protect children, the Caliber broadly fared well, but it wasn't immune to criticism.

There was insufficient warning about the dangers of fitting a rearward-facing child seat in the front passenger seat without first disabling the airbag there, and the presence of ISOFIX child seat mountings in the rear was not clearly marked.

The Caliber's pedestrian protection was poor - neither the bumper nor the front edge of the bonnet scored any points for protecting pedestrians' legs.

Additionally, most of the rest of the bonnet scored no points for protecting *****s' or children's heads, so the car was rated as poor in this area.
