Question inner tie rod play.. can it be adjusted?

id reeeeally like to fix this without swapping out the entire rack.. heres the problem..

its an 88 tbi omni. and the drivers side innter tie rod has some slop in it.. i can wiggle the wheel a bit with the car on the ground, and with it up in the air i can pull and push the tie rod about a third of an inch in and out. the other side is solid and has no play at all

is there any means of adjusting this? the alignment on this thing is way off to begin with (i just bought the car non running and cheap) and i can hear the wheel flopping around when im driving.. definately needs to be fixed

i have another rack in my parts omni, but i would MUCH rather hear that there is some way to adjust this lol... anyone know what could cause it and if it can be adjusted tight again? it feels like something is just slightly loose, but i really dont know anything about steering racks, its definately *not* the outer tie rod end, that connection is solid, its something where the inner rod goes into the rack
