VW creates Golf GT Sport
Volkswagen will replace existing Golf Sport and GT trims with a single new derivative ??“ the Golf Sport GT.
17??? alloys are wrapped in 225/45 R17 tyres and new body styling of fins, grilles, fog lights and badging will mark out the GT Sport as a new model.
168bhp models sports twin chrome exhausts, while all models will be available in three-door or five-door models.
Inside sporty features extend to leather-trimmed fittings, front sports seats, rain-sensing headlights and windscreen wipers. Aircon, CD player with eight speakers, electric windows, six airbags, ABS and ESP are all standard.
Engine choices are 139bhp and 168bhp 1.4-litre petrols or 2-litre oil-burners. The petrol models utilise both superchargers and turbochargers.
Both petrol and diesel engines are available mated to a choice of six-speed manual or DSG transmissions. Deliveries start later in the summer.
Prices are set to start at ??17,422 for the entry-level three-door variant specified with a 1.4-litre TSI 140 PS engine, rising to ??21,352 for the five-door model fitted with the 2.0-litre TDI 170 PS engine with DSG transmission.
