PARIS (Thomson Financial) - French carmaker Renault SA said its new Twingo model, manufactured at its Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia, will go on sale on June 15.

In a statement, the group said the car is the first new vehicle released under its Renault Commitment 2009 programme, which aims to renew the carmaker's vehicle range.

Renault has seen a decline in new car sales in recent months, and is hoping that the launch of new models, including the new Laguna due out in September this year, will lead to a recovery in the second half.

The new Twingo is designed to target a broader, more international customer base than its predecessor, the group said, and a right-hand-drive version will be available for the UK market.
