Arrow Sportier Altima could help Nissan sales

Nissan North America rolled off the first vehicle in a new line of sportier Altimas at its factory in Smyrna this morning.

The two-door Altima Coupe is the third new or redesigned model to be launched at the Smyrna plant in the last seven months, company officials said. It follows the updated Altima sedan, which first rolled off the line in September, and the Altima hybrid, which launched in December.

Nissan initially plans to produce about 195 Altima Coupes daily, integrating it onto the same line that makes the sedan and hybrid.

Nissan officials said they have already booked about 1,200 orders for the coupe, which officially goes on sale in late May. The car has a suggested retail price of $20,490 to $25,390, depending on specifications.
