Nissan launches Teana luxury sedan

HYDERABAD: Nissan Motor Indian (P) Ltd announced here on Sunday the launch of its luxury sedan ??” Teana. The car is priced at Rs. 20, 47,000 ex-showroom in Hyderabad. Created around the concept of `comfort and relaxation', it has many features competing with cars in the upper segment with an intelligent key.

Explaining the features, Director (Marketing and Sales) of Nissan Motor India (P) Ltd Neeraj Garg said that the remote of the intelligent key would be recognised by the vehicle in its vicinity and it automatically locks and unlocks. The driver can also start the ignition without the key. The vehicle is powered by a 2.3-litre VQ23DE petrol engine. The competitors in the market for this car are: Hyundai Sonata, Honda Accord, Skoda Super, Mercedes-Benz C Class and Toyota Camry, said General Manager K. Unnikrishnan. He said that Toyota Camry was the only car that was completely assembled and imported.

The company proposed to sell over 350 to 400 units this year in India through its five dealers in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. On the company's other ventures, Mr. Garg said that Nissan and Renault, with an equity of 50 per cent, joined Mahindra & Mahindra (50 per cent) to set up a manufacturing facility at Chennai and there would be three separate lines. Nissan was also planning to enter compact car manufacturing.

In keeping with its global line up with Suzuki, Nissan proposed to make 100 per cent export oriented small cars for Europe in the Maruti-Suzuki's facility in Haryana. Nissan launched its SUV X-Trail in 2004 in Indian market, he said.
