Problems:bought car yesterday and when i was driving home in drive position in auto box when taking off it goes into first then second then third gear but engine seems to be reving to high as though there shud be a fourth gear,is this normal is there only three gears or problem with transmission?

I just read your post on internet now(I know,it's very late!)

The Automatic Pajero Jr has 3 gears only.
If it has more than 100.000 km(not miles!!!) change the automatic gearbox oil(it is not expensive)you will reduce the "engine-screaming"sensation(sorry for the Italianism) and moreover you will extend the lifeframe of your autogearbox(robust and confy but very expensive to fix if crashes)
