Fiat Marea

The Fiat Marea is a sedan-type automobile, based on the Brava/Bravo hatchback platform. The Weekend variant made the Marea available in estate form. It was produced in Europe from 1997 to 2002 and continues to be produced in Brazil. Its 1.4 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 petrol and 1.9 turbo-diesel engines were sourced from the Brava and Bravo. A 2.0 20v turbo option, from the Fiat Coupe was also available and for a short time there was 2.4 turbodiesel-engine available, but they stopped making it in 2001. Production of the car ceased in 2002 but its successor, the Croma, did not arrive until 2005. The floor pan, as well as most of the mechanicals came form the Bravo/Brava.

In Brazil the Marea received a first facelift in 2001, focused on the rear. The solution was simple; the Brazilian version adapted the rear design of a Lancia Lybra. Now, in 2005, the Brazilian version received a second facelift: a mild change at the rear and a new front grille similar to other models of Fiat. The engines are 1.6 16 valve, 1.8 16 valve, 2.0 turbo 20 valve and 2.4 20 valve.

A dual fuel 1.6 litre model called the Marea Bipower is also available, and runs on either petrol or methanol.
