General comments:Despite the problems, I love this car. Having driven MT all my life and choosing a Forester with AT I expected to be disappointed on performance, but even though I know the MT Foresters are much more jumpy, I have no performance complaints. There's slight turbo lag but the car is fast enough to overtake without this mattering much. The only problem is the turbo lag in corners but I quickly got used to this.

It's spacious, it's fast, it's comfortable and it's packed with extras. Oh, and it turns a few heads with its white colour and gorgeous bodykit :)
What things have gone wrong with the car:When I bought the car, it had some silly modifications by the previous owner, including an air filter (in fake carbon fibre - yuck), external blow off valve and exhaust system. This had taken a toll on the engine, which had worn oil seals, an overstressed dynamo and a very distinct knock in the cylinders. The dynamo went about a week after I purchased the vehicle and was replaced.

During the Cyprus Rally, I knocked a rock with the belly in a special stage (had to drive one fo the FIA dudes in the SS, I wouldn't drive it there otherwise) and lost gearbox oil (tip: obviously not an off-roader, duh!), and this was repaired. I'm getting quotes on a sumpguard.

The wheel studs were worn and had to be replaced, as were the tyres generally. The latest malady was the oil seals, which are due to be replaced early next week as there is noticeable oil leaking and the car is now parked in the drive in.
Previous car:Opel Calibra
