| What things have gone wrong with the car: | Hi, my car has CVT system. by mistake the CVT fluid was drained and system filled with normal ATF. Later I drained the normal ATF and replaced it with CVT fluid but the car is not performing well yet. In the morning it starts well but when you retard speed while in queue, then problems starts i.e the car does not change gear anymore while RPM read up to 4 while speed is not more than 20KPH. please advise what should I do | |

| Hi, is there a check engine light showing? If so, have you scanned and obtained the codes? That should help you. I hope you replaced with Nissan CVT Fluid type NS-1, since your CVT system is Hyper CVT. The whole system must be drained and refilled with the correct fluid. |

| I bought a nissan serena , i was not familiar with the transmission fluid of CVT or Atf whatsover. 1 did replaced it with an ATF petron brand and found out that my transmission was be a CVTF oil.After a week readily i change it with CTVF. question ? does this may affect and cause damage to my transmission.. and what possible problem would ill be encountering because of wrong Fluid oil used. any suggestion or possible solution for it . thanks a lot |

| I have same problem with my nissan serena 2001. The automatic transmission gives problem when im driving in high traffic jams etc i.e on 1st n 2nd gear. then after that it doesnot shift to 3rd and some time it stucks on 3rd and doenot go back to 1st or 4th. | These cars are super and durable, BUT the Japanese Nissan Company did a poor job on the transmission gear box system on this car model, completely useless and complex. I have just changed to a new gear box (replaced), the car is running well now, i hope it wont start behaving as it was doing before changing the gear box. |

| My car nissan serena sr 20 its giving me hell mostly when it has moved for a long distance and in the traffic jam its perform wase loosing balance meaning the engine could labour mach the output will be less meaning low speed reaching 20km. plz advise me this problem started when i changed the gearbox transmmission. |

| same gear problem.. after it goes for 30kms it starts to not change into the next gear up or down. One time I had someone push it over a hill cos it wouldnt make it itself. After dripping more CVT into the gears it worked fine again until it became hot again.. sorry no photo. |

| I have a Nissan serena 2000 Jv pack 2WD Engine no SR 20-316079B.This Nissan is giving me problems when it moves in hot times as it will not changes gears from 1 and will just be at 20km/h until I stop and find the radiator water boiling. What I usually do in to drain out hot water while running the engine at the same time topping up with cold water and it will run and start changing the gears. This problem is hear to stay could anyone who have a similar problem help me with a solution. |

| Hi also have a Serena giving me gear problems I normaly pour water on the gear box and the sudden change down disrepair,s you can pour about 10 to 20 litre,s this has to do with the belt in gearbox which will be slipery when the gearbox becomes hot |

| All questions seem not answered why?I have a Nissan serena as well with transmision problem.on ascendind it looses power and goes to a weaker gear which slows it down wat can I do.am in Uganda and every one with this kind of car complains of same daults.can the manufacturers help us pliz. |

| Recommended transmission fluid is NS-1. With numerous stop and go traffic jams, the gear changing problems starts to show. With a long stretch of driving without multiple stop/go driving situation, gear changing seems to work just fine. With the right fluid pressure, the gears change in sync. Or the gears are worn out and won't stay in place (therefore, it's time change the transmission unit). |

| My Serena had a problem with the gearbox it was not pulling,atimes when you stop when start moving it starts slowly later it picks but when the temperature is high slightly up on the middle of the temperature gauge it become slow hence no moving un till it cools down. I changed another gearbox still when the temperature gauge is slightly above the middle line on the temperature gauge it does not move or engaging. What could be a problem? |

| Nissan Serena 1999 SR20 Engine, ontime four wheel auto transmission, after driving short distance (approximately 15-20 KM) and you slow down the vehicle for what ever the reason, and then you need to carry on the same speed, you can not the engine is "racing" RMP goes up, when you stop the engine (switch off) for half an hour and then all back to normal. please can some advise me what to do |

| Hi, I had a 1996 serena that done the same thing, how I fixed it was keeping it in power mode and not economical. Does this work for you all? Why I'm asking is that I'm looking at buying a 2000 serena but after reading this it has left me concerned. |

| The Nissan Serena ahs a peculiar design to its transmission, the CVt oils heats up when car is running and when it becomes very hot it losses power ,The only way to get round this is to install a cooling system for the transmission, the oils performs better when cold, to say the car runs better at night or I cold weather. To cool the oil you will need to modify your Serena by fitting a smaller radiator to your that will cool the transmission fluid, and circulate back to the gearbox, you will need to add two more bottles of transmission fluid for the oil to circulate well, I have done it to mine it runs like magic now |

| This specific serena with cvt transmission need an external transmission cooler to cool down the fluid. After 6months of research and observation Mine was solve by installing 2 external coolers. |

| Same problem here, c24 with sr20de engine and cvt transmission. Observation: 1. The car start and drive well for first few mins or km defending on road and traffic condition. 2. After less than an hour, the car start acting weird over rev while cruising then malfunction, need to stop and wait for atlest 10 mins to cool down. 3. High acceleration on 20kph 4. Sportsmode flashing 16x 5. After sitting for 10-30 mins car drive well and start acting again after awhile. - i replaced the stepper motor, still problem persist. - replaced the valve body same problem occur. - asked several so called AT specialist and insist to replace the transmission. So i got 1 Standard 5speed AT from local serena not cvt. But was not installed. 6. One time Its raining when i was driving and realized that i didnt encounter the same problem. After searching and observation i realized that the transmission is overheating. So i installed 2 external cooler to cool down the transmission fluid. I took it for a test drive for about 180km mix road and traffic condition and never encountered the same problem. Next project is to bypass the radiatr. DIY cooler with watercooling like the radiator except it doesnt heat up like a radiator. Hope this helps. |

| My serena had similar problems as described above. But a few days back when I was driving it, it simply lost drive completely. Although the engine is starting and revving as expected, The car is not able to move if I select reverse (R), drive (D) or low(L). Any ideas what could be causing this?? |

| Friends am auto electrician,my service also is nissan serena.I got problem in my service in transmission,in traffic jam the car still not changing gear,after making my dignosis i know probrem is cooling system,so the first i make cooling fan direct. the result is ok,but in hot serson when i engage AC i found same problem, after know cvt no need hot i apply extenal radiator with cooling fan now problem finish, i enjoy driving. |

| l happen to have the same brand as the one in that photo l also interchanged the transmission oil and even opened the gear box. found out that the clutches within had worn out replaced them but the car failed to revamp on second opinion the technician says its the computer can you please advice |

| My nissan serena is not shifting gears, it will only go with first gear and reverse. I have filled the appropriate oil and replaced the seal since i had discoverd that it was worn out but no change. At one point i was suprised to see the car shifting well but it was only for a kilometre. Please advice |
