General comments:Undoubtedly one of the poorest Fords ever to come out of Dearborn. I should have been warned when a friend's 1986 was recalled due to faulty suspension welds. I bought mine brand new in late 1986. It is the only car I ever paid cash for. It had everything on it. It ran for about 9 months and systematically started to self-destruct due to poor quality parts and design. I had purchased the extended warranty and had used it so often to repair defects and bad parts that Ford stopped honoring it. A few lawsuit threats and they resumed, but seeing the handwriting on the wall, I dumped it as soon as possible.
What things have gone wrong with the car:The transmission failed 3 times. The A/C stopped working down south on the hottest day of my life. The radio would play in alternate speakers. The drivers side power window refused to work. The right rear brake would lock up on the merest damp road. the coolant hose failed ( 9 months). the car was delivered with a non-functioning computer.
the wipers froze repeatedly and failed. Yeah, quality is [snow] job 1 all right.
Previous car:cougar 1982
