2006 Nissan Bluebird Sylphy whining sound problems in Zimbabwe

Problems:there is whining sound from under the bonnet. I thought it was a timing chain issue but the mechanic said it was not. Another then said it was a power steering pump but from the research i have done the car does not have one ( it electronically controlled power steering )

The car will have a steering pump, but that’s unlikely to be the issue. Whining could be a few things, to check it’s not a power steering belt or alternator belt, can buy cheap chalk and rub on inside of belts, then start her up, if whining quietens down, then that’s the issue. Either tension the belt (check YouTube vids on tensioning belts. If too worn, replace belt. If whining is not the belts, if your experiencing that noise while driving, then could be the CVT transmission that will need diagnostics

Whinning noise could very well be the transmission. Its important to service CVT transmissions.
