General comments:I bought new rotors (yet to be fitted) which have two small tapped holes, additional to the stud holes, which suggests screws could be placed in these holes and therefore go through the plate which in which the wheel studs are mounted to prevent the rotors slipping and clunking on the wheel studs, however there are no holes in the stud mounting plate? I bought the car second hand for an economical buz box to work; it drives very well and suits my needs, however the brake noise problem is annoying to say the least. Is this a common problem??
I would be grateful for any comments.
Problems:On rapid acceleration and de-acceleration, a loud clunking noise comes from the front wheels; the holes in the rotors are considerably bigger than the studs, which causes the rotors to rotate and clunk when they come into contact with the studs. Over-tightening the wheel nuts seems to help prevent this 'slipping' however over-tightening puts undue stress on the wheel nuts and studs; also the problem seems to be worse in the wet, giving the wheel more 'slip', and the noise occurs more frequently. The CV joints are fine; the noise also occurs when driving in a straight line.
