Vehicle:Toyota Mark II

General comments:Can someone help me out for I am really frustrated and scared of driving this vehicle.. I have taken the car for diagnosis in one of the best garages in town but they seem not to detect what the problem is. Can some one help please????
thank you so much in advance.
cheers.
God bless.
Problems:I bought Toyota Mark 11 in May 2016 this year and it has been running well. Suddenly, its been one month now when the Engine check sign begins popping on the dash board. This normally occurs when am in the jam and the car is in slow motion. Each time the engine check sign pops up, the steering wheel gets so hard, the car runs out of power and it stalls suddenly. So I have to restart the engine in order for the car to re- start. This used to happen once in a while but the frequency of this occurrence is increasing and I find it so so strange. This vehicle is of VVTI Engine.

I was doing some reading about the 1G-FE engine (which is the one that powers Mark IIs) and it seems to be quite fragile especially the 98 model.

From what i have read, it could be an oil pressure sensor issue causing this. Have someone look at that.

Good luck!

If the car stalls, then you shud check the spark plug wires, that is misfire

I had the very same problem with my Toyota Mark 2, what it turned out to be was the V-Tec or VVTi solenoid was bad. After I changed it, the car drove well again. perhaps you could have the garage check it out. you can run a simple test by disconnecting the said solenoid and drive the car as is, it the car drive normally then that is a good indication that the solenoid may need replacing.
