2001 Toyota Duet fuel consumption problems

| General comments: | Am really spending a lot on fuel, yet i bought a duet to save on fuel expenditures. | |
| Problems: | I have a Toyota Duet but it consumes fuel double its expected rate (2 litres in 13km) yet i have just replaced new plugs, please advise. Spare parts (such as Mountings,breaks,etc) are hard to find hear in Uganda. Do all Duet cars sound from the body? or its my car problem. |

| My wifes one gets around 10km/l around town ... 9 if i use the airconditioner ... open road below 120kmh we get 13.1km/l above 120kmh we only ger about 11,5 |

| I should mention i have fitted a racing exhaust and removed my catalytic converter from my exhaust system and fitted platinum spark plugs (VERY EXPENSIVE) ... small suggestion instead of pumping the tyres to 2bar try pumping them to 2.4 bar (should save you a bit of fuel) you can save more by filling the tyres with nitrogen but there by you that might be an issue. make sure your air filter is always clean and replace every 8000km if its dusty roads you are driving on ... a dirty air filter is usually tha main cause of higher fuel consumption ... hope this helps |
