1999 Nissan Liberty sudden very high revs and loss of power problems

Report a Problem

Date:January 14, 2013, 9:57 am
Name:Arnold Mugova
Location:Zimbabwe, Harare
Vehicle:Nissan Liberty
Year:1999
Modification:None
Problems:1.My car runs well but loses power after driving for a considerably long time or after a few run arounds in the city. When it does that, the revs go very high and not corresponding with the speed. After stopping for say 15 minutes and flashing out the water in the radiator, and replace with fresh water, it then runs normally again. I noticed some foam in the water in the cooling system. Could this be the cause. How do I rectify this?

2.My dashboard reading is also faint. What could be the problem and how do I solve this?

Take it for a scan. It's usually not the cooling system, it's the gearbox. You can only see the problem part through a scan and replace it with a similar one.

The problem was solved. It was the speed sensors. I got new, real new ones, from a lady called Linah. Anyone with a similar problem can contact her on 0774816419. She was very helpful to me and am confident she can help you too.

Sorry! I quoted the wrong contact number for Linah. It is 0772816419 not 0774.

Hope anyone with problems will be sorted after contacting her.

please be careful. There are other middlemen who are charging high prices and they obtain the sensors from her. They are putting a margin of almost 100% on the price.
Contact her direct.

my liberty is having an almost similar problem. unexpected very high revs, running at as low as 15kms/hr, very weak on take off. someone said something about the transmission fluid. you said something about sensors. i have not tried any of these. also, fuel consumption too too high, cant believe it.

ya i have a nissan liberty with the same problem. it would start normally but after several rounds you would notice it was loosing power and rpm was so high eg @4000 rpm bt speed eg 20 km/h on no load and on flat plain.

i was told its airflow sensor, got newone but it ddnt improve
changed the thermoswich valve and it improved but we created another problem it was now working on low temp hence fuel was mamiswared!
at last we got a perfect machanich who presure tested the radiator and we found it had a crack hence the engine coolant was not circulating properly. replaced the radiator and conected the fans direct and restored the thermoswitch and the car is fine since last year august 2013
this model people are condeming it but actually its the right car worth to buy.

This habit of people taking shortcuts to fix cars connecting radiator fans directly just wait a little longer your car will burn to a crisp and you will regret it why not replace the malfunctioning parts with working ones.you will lose the car because you want to save a few dollars well pakadaro fire extinguisher haishande trust me ska jus do the correct thing.
