1996 Nissan Laurel car smokes when it is cold problems

| General comments: | Otherwise the car runs really well on long trips, but i do sometimes feel a slight surg in the engine | |
| Problems: | this car is a 2.8 diesel, I have just changed the fuel & Air, filters, including change the oil & filter.... When this car is cold, she smokes for approximately 5 minutes, when the engine is warm, smoking is very minimal...at times the idle becomes rough, then normal idle..kicks in....I thought maybe water is in the diesel, but no change..... I think the valve seals may need to be replaced, also the compression on number 3 pot is slightly down...... I did remove the oil cap of the rocket cover to check for pressure, this is okay, also no sign of any water around rocket cover...... |
