2000 Mercedes-Benz ML320 overdrive won't turn off problems

| Problems: | The overdrive light blinks several times when I turn on the car. Today it turned on by itself and now I can't turn it off. I tried the switch and I also tried putting it in neutral and holding the button for 10 seconds and that also did not work. Any ideas? I really don't need the overdrive sine I live in Florida. Is there a way to permanently disable it? |
