18-06-2007: VW rolls out face-lifted Touareg
 

VW Cars Sdn Bhd, the master dealer for Volkswagen Group Malaysia, targets sales of about 1,200 Volkswagen cars by year-end, including its new premium sports utility vehicle (SUV) Touareg.

Ilyas said he expected the Touareg to sell well locally, due to its unique positioning as a well-priced, stylish city SUV with on-road and off-road dynamics and comfort capabilities. The new Touareg is priced at RM433,888, excluding insurance.

The Touareg has a 280 brake horsepower (bhp) V6, 24-valve petrol engine and a six-speed automatic gearbox with tiptronic transmission and a dynamic shift programme. Its features include an anti-locking brake system and rollover sensors. Ilyas expressed confidence that the Volkswagen brand will grow in terms of higher market penetration and acceptance with its reputation as producers of cars with excellent handling and German technology. "If we were not convinced that theVolkswagen is a good car, we wouldn't invest so much money and be the main partner of Volkswagen Group Malaysia," he said.
