Awning?

hiya everyone!
I have just got myself a new touring hiace-import. And, i'm after putting an awning on to use at festivals. Has anyone else done this before? As yesterday at a campervan store i was told that it wouldn't be possible. But, looking on the web there are awnings that fit on to roof bars.
So if you know anything about awnings please get in touch as i'm going to beautiful days next month.
