Subaru sales down in all categories except Tribeca SUV
Subaru of America Inc. said Tuesday its sales last month were down 7 percent when compared to a year earlier.
The carmaker sold 16,573 vehicles, down from 17,809 in August 2006. Declines were recorded in four of its five vehicle lines. Tribeca, the company's SUV, had sales of 1,835 vehicles, a 33 percent gain. For the eight months ended Aug. 31, Subaru's sales totaled 122,165 vehicles, an 8 percent decline from 132,758 in the comparable period a year ago. Subaru of America, which is based in Cherry Hill, N.J., is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. of Japan. The company has a network of 600 dealers across the United States.
