Renault launches Kangoo Compact Van

Renault has launched a new version of the Kangoo in the shape of the Kangoo Van Compact - designed for use in urban areas.

Smaller than the regular Kangoo Van, the Kangoo Compact, with a maximum load capacity of between 2.3 and 2.9m?? from an overall length of 3.83m.

When the passenger seat is folded flat the maximum load length increases from 1.34 to 2.12m. A version without passenger seat can take load lengths of up to 2.54m. In either configuration, maximum load capacity is 2.9 m??. The Kangoo Compact??s wheelbase is shorter by 38cm and has a turning circle of 9.4m.

Storage options include A4-document dashboard stowage, overhead parcel shelf and a large, lidded 15-litre glovebox.

The Multi-functional TunePoint system has three ports for connecting USB keys, MP3 players and iPods and is controlled via the steering wheel.

The Kangoo Compact is powered by a choice of diesel engines with 70bhp or 85bhp or a 1.6-litre petrol version with 90bhp, all of which are driven through a manual five-speed gearbox.

Safety equipment includes ABS which combines with Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) and engine torque overrun regulation. Inside there are seatbelt pretensioners, load limiters, anti-submarining humps and a driver??s airbag as standard.
