MISSISSAUGA, ON, April 1 /CNW/ - A surprising 91 per cent of Canadians would rather dine at a four-star restaurant than have fast food, if money were no object. And amazingly, a full 100 per cent of Canadians prefer using a parachute when skydiving over free-falling. These and other earth-shattering findings can be found in a ground-breaking study released today by Nissan Canada Inc. (NCI). The purely unscientific, totally random Nissan Canada What Would You Choose? survey found when it comes to making choices, Canadians tend to pick the more convenient and appealing scenario over one that is far-fetched or undesirable. And this shocking trend is expected to continue well into the future. With a margin of error of +/- 87 per cent, seven times out of 20, the NCI survey polled a massive, undisclosed number of people across Canada to find out the types of choices they prefer to make. An eye-opening 99.3 per cent say they'd rather crack open a bottle of pure, cool spring water than drink muddy, dirty puddle water (0.07 per cent). "Choices are something Canadians make everyday," says Shawn Morris, Director, Nissan Sales Operations, NCI. "We found an astonishingly high number of people make choices because of convenience, simplicity and ease."

Sunny Vacation Destination vs. Dreary Suburbia

In eastern Canada, 97 per cent of respondents would choose to vacation at a sunny resort destination over a drab Greater Toronto Area (GTA) suburb, compared to 96.8 per cent in western Canada. Respondents who chose the undisclosed GTA suburb either lived in that city (three per cent) or at least knew where it was (one per cent).

Ice Pole vs. Lollipop

An overwhelming number of respondents from across the country prefer the sweet taste of a lollipop - cherry being the number one flavour (87 per cent) - over the metallic taste of an ice-covered pole. The other seven respondents, from the north, say they choose the ice pole because licking a lollipop in the frigid cold is like licking an ice pole anyway.
