1978 Skyline- HELP

Hi all.

I am writing for a mate who doesn't have the net but owns a 78 skyline (i'm a sooby boy myself). Anyways he's resprayed it in the BA ford silver with a light pearl, cleaned the interior all up himself, put a killer sound system in it and has been cleaning the engine up all nice.

The reason i'm writing is he has a 2.4L 6cyl auto but its only a 3speed and isn't great for highway driving etc. The motor is clean as and makes no noise or blow smoke that it shouldn't. Just wondering if anyone knows what gearbox's would be compatabile to fit into this and what it'd cost etc. Or even a full engine swap/ conversion. Any help would b appreciated.
