Nissan Titan And Frontier Race Trucks Make Strong Showing At WSORR ...

Racing - Nissan Titan, Frontier Race Trucks Make Strong Showing at WSORR Bark River Triple-Header

... NASHVILLE, Tenn., Aug. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Nissan Motorsports continued its winning ways, showcasing the efforts of its top-flight Titan and Frontier race teams to record daily crowds of 10,000-plus at Rounds 7 through 9 of the Lucas Oil World Series of Off-Road Racing (WSORR) closed-course off-road racing event August 10-12, at the Bark River International Raceway in Bark River, Mich.

In the three rounds of competition, Carl Renezeder took first place in Friday's Round 7 and a second place in Saturday's Round 8 in his PRO 2WD Nissan Titan-bodied race truck, and a second place in Saturday's Round 8 and third place in Sunday's Round 9 in PRO 4x4 in his new four-wheel drive Titan- bodied race truck. This makes six podium finishes in seven starts for the new Nissan Motorsports 4x4 racing machine....

Chad Hord, from nearby Felch, Mich. and his new-for-2007 310-horsepower PRO Light Pickup Nissan Frontier-bodied race truck took a win in Round 7 and third place in Round 8 to climb on top of the class drivers' championship standings.

Success also continued for another Nissan Frontier race truck pilot in the PRO Light Pickup class -- Art Schmidt scored two second-place finishes on Friday and Saturday.

"The positive results garnered from a tough weekend of competition are a testament to the strength of our teams, drivers and powerful Nissan race trucks," said Nissan Motorsports Marketing and Operations Senior Manager Ron Stukenberg. "Carl, Chad and Art all deserve kudos for their excellent work, and thanks to their efforts, Nissan Motorsports is well on our way to championships in three classes of racing this year!"

Race Reports

Friday, August 10 -- Round 7 -- Two Wins in Two Classes

Round 7 of the WSORR series started off with a bang for Nissan Motorsports, as both Carl Renezeder and Chad Hord took the top spots in PRO 2WD and PRO Light Pickup competition, respectively.

Renezeder's PRO 2WD victory marked his third win in a row for the 700-plus horsepower two-wheel drive Nissan Titan-bodied racer. The race started off with extensive contact among all the trucks in the field, with Renezeder getting spun around at the first turn. This only strengthened Renezeder's resolve, as he fought his way up through the field, picking off competitors and taking advantage of gaps in traffic -- by the last lap, he was leading and held on to take the checkered flag.

Renezeder also ran the PRO 4x4 race in his Nissan Titan, but finished seventh due to a transfer case issue.

In the PRO Light Pickup race, it was clear that the Nissan Frontier-bodied trucks were the ones to beat, as champion Chad Hord won the race and Art Schmitt came in second. Schmitt had gotten out to an early lead, but Hord, who was in fourth, began picking off the three in front of him, getting by Schmitt on lap seven. Schmitt didn't let Hord out of his sight though, and both were able to use their 310-plus horsepower Nissan Motorsports race- prepared powerplants to drive away from the rest of the field.

Saturday, August 11 -- Round 8 -- Four Podiums in Three Classes

Renezeder was the star of the day with two podium finishes in two different classes -- PRO 2WD and PRO 4x4 -- in Nissan Titan-bodied racing machines. In PRO 2WD, Renezeder again was caught in traffic and had to fight his way through a variety of obstacles, including other spun-out or stalled vehicles on the challenging course.

In PRO 4x4, Renezeder started in third place and he quickly moved up to second place, which he held throughout the race, despite having a steering problem.

The Nissan Frontier race trucks came alive once again with two podium finishes in the PRO Light Pickup race, ending with Art Schmitt (2nd) finishing ahead of Chad Hord (3rd). In this race, Schmitt and Hord worked from mid-pack starting positions to the top three and Hord had to battle a power steering failure.

Sunday, August 12 -- Round 9 -- Two Podiums in Two Classes

Renezeder's run in PRO 4x4 was the highlight of the day, with a third place finish -- marking six out of seven podium finishes for his brand new 4-wheel drive Nissan Titan-bodied racer. Renezeder started towards the front and ran a consistent, fast race.

Bad luck plagued the other Nissan entries -- Renezeder's PRO 2WD entrant suffered transmission problems, resulting in a 7th place finish, and Hord's PRO Light Pickup finished 8th due to a flat tire that necessitated a trip to the pits for a replacement.
