Arrow Mitsubishi Fuso recalls 5000 trucks

Japan's Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corp began recalling more than 5,000 trucks due to an engine-mounting problem.

The Transport Ministry said 5,023 Super Great trucks, produced between December 1999 and February 2006 were subject to the recall.

"The vehicle's engines could shift position because they are not sufficiently fixed in place," the ministry's Web site said.

"There have been a total of 22 complaints from users, but no reports of accidents," it said.

The company has been embroiled in a cover-up scandal since 2000, when it admitted that it had been systematically concealing auto defects for more than 20 years to avoid recalls.

DaimlerChrysler holds an 85 per cent stake in Mitsubishi Fuso, while Mitsubishi group companies hold the other 15 per cent.
