Mercedes breaks M-Class record
Mercedes-Benz U.S. International Inc. officials said they reached a record of deliveries of the M-Class sport utility vehicle made in Tuscaloosa County and officials said they expect to produce the one-millionth vehicle there in November.
Mercedes-Benz has delivered 250,000 models of the SUV, including its second generation M-Class launched in April 2005, to customers around the world, said spokeswoman Felyicia Jerald. One third of total M-Class sales are in the U.S, while one fifth are in the German market. To coincide with the 10-year anniversary of the M-Class this year, the Tuscaloosa plant began producing a special "Edition 10" model that has been available to customers since mid-September. It includes an "Edition 10" logos on the fender and extra amenities, such as 20-inch wheels, dark-tinted tail lights, and "titanium" colored paint.
