Mercedes-Benz C-Class unveiled

MERCEDES-BENZ unveiled its new C-Class in Brunei last night at a private function for Baiduri Prestige customers.

The exclusive preview took place at the Gadong showroom of Jati Transport Sdn Bhd, the German carmaker's exclusive dealer in the sultanate.

"The new C-Class saloon replaces a model series of which more than 1.4 million examples have been sold since June 2000,"Jati Transport said in a statement.

If combined with the figures for estate and sports coupe, the amount exceeds 2 million units, Jati Transport general manager Phil Myhre said.

"It's completely redesigned from the ground up, it is not a refresh," he told The Brunei Times. Last year, 45 units were sold in the sultanate.

"The C180 and 200K were the bestsellers," said Ho Ley Hoon, sales manager of Jati.

"Jati Transport is our strongest merchant financially," said Pierre Imhof, general manager of Baiduri Bank. "They are in a very good position in the market to offer our Prestige customers something to differentiate themselves from others."

"This collaboration with Baiduri is very beneficial to us," said Andrew Chiam, executive director of Jati Transport. "They have indirectly provided us access to Prestige members."

The new car is available in three design lines classic, elegance and avant-garde with classic being more conservative and the latter the sportiest looking. It is available for viewing at the Jati Transport Gadong showroom tomorrow.
