This is it! The car all BMW faithful have been waiting for. The 'Passion for Supreme Performance', the new BMW M3 is the first and only unit in Brunei Darussalam which was unveiled at the QAF Centre yesterday.

For more than two decades, the BMW M3 has been ranked alone as the epitome of ultimate dynamism derived directly from motor sports, a car offering powerful and superior aesthetics as well as a truly incomparable driving experience.

Said the BMW Sales Consultant, "This is the first BMW M3 series available in Brunei, as well as in Asia and at this moment, only one unit is available at QAF Auto Sdn Bhd."

The V8 engine with 8 cylinders and 4 valves is the newly-revised sporty engine, the maximum torque in turn is 400/3,900Nm/rpm with six speed and accelerates to 100kmh below 4.8 secs.

And perhaps an even more impressive fact is that some 85 per cent of this maximum torque is available consistently throughout the enormous speed range of 6,500rpm.

The truly impressive "heart" of the new BMW M3 is the car's brand-new eight-cylinder power unit in V-arrangement combining outstanding power and performance with unique dynamism. Displacing 3,999cc, the new V8 develops a maximum output of 309kW/420hp.

The new BMW M3 is based on the BMW 3 Series Coupe, but is nevertheless quite unique in looks and technical features.

The engine, for example, is an exclusive development precisely for this model, with the chassis, suspension and body all based consistently on the requirements of motor sports.

Meanwhile, QAF Auto Sdn Bhd also revealed the new BMW 3 Series Convertible, which is

the fourth generation of the BMW 3 Series Convertible, making its appearance as the new car marking an important premiere in the history of BMW; for this is the first BMW 3 Series Convertible to feature a retractable hardtop protecting the car's occupants from wind and weather.

The BMW 3-Series is without question one of the all-time favourite cars, reigning on Brunei's yearly 10 Best Cars list for the past 16 years.

The current and much-praised, fifth-generation E90 version is no doubt the best, and is among the most rewarding car to drive at any price. For 2008, and to no one's surprise, BMW is adding a convertible version, just as the company has for the past 20 years.

The three-piece roof in lightweight steel plate structure closes fully automatically within just 23 secs over the passenger compartment, opening a bit faster in precisely 22 secs and disappearing completely into the rear end of BMW's open two-door.

The roof structure, made up of three elements, provides an ambience within the interior quite similar to that of a coupe. And thanks to the large windows offering superior visibility when the roof is closed, as well as full lining inside of the roof, the new convertible provides a bright and exclusive ambience at all times. Compared with the former model, the rear side windows are 30 per cent larger and visibility to the rear has been enhanced by 38 per cent.
