LONDON ??” Just ahead of its September 8 launch in the U.K., BMW's British distributor has released additional photos and details on the new M3 Coupe. In the British market, it will be priced at a cool $100,500.

The first eight-cylinder M3 features BMW's DOHC 4.0-liter V8, rated at 420 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Mated to a six-speed manual gearbox with a torque-sensing variable M differential lock, the car rockets from zero to 60 in less than 4.8 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph.

Naturally, the fourth-generation M3 features the full complement of technology from BMW's electronic arsenal, from dynamic stability control and corner brake control to the new MDynamic Mode. An optional electronic damper control system permits the driver to select manually from three stages of ride stiffness, via a button next to the gearshift lever.

BMW also is planning M versions of the 3 Series sedan and convertible.
