Arrow BMW M5 Touring - race car disguised as wagon

Munich - Top German tuning house AC Schnitzer has given the BMW M5 Touring a massive tune-up, boosting performance of the 10- cylinder motor by 10 per cent to 406 kW/552 hp.

In comparison with the 373 kW/507 hp base model, AC Schnitzer has fitted a special exhaust manifold, sports catalysts and a twin rear silencer with increased gas flow to keep the exhaust back pressure as low as possible.

'Drivers of vehicles like this think in different terms from conventional sports car drivers. But no way do they lag behind when it comes to driving dynamics,' the firm said in a press release.

Apart from the special aerodynamic package, the kit includes sports performance springs, which lower the centre of gravity and a special aluminium strut brace for the front axle. The 20-inch alloy wheels are in classic Y-spoke design with five striking frame spokes.

On request a carbon interior is available in sports titanium finish.

AC Schnitzer lists the price for the exclusive package including assembly and special paintwork at 44,794 euros (65,818 dollars) which bringss the total price tag at 161,560 euros (237,388 dollars), putting it into the category of the Ferrari F430 or Lamborghini Gallardo. ?© 2007 dpa - Deutsche Presse-Agentur
