Arrow 2008 Mazda CX-7: What??™s New

Ch-Ch-Changes: 2008 Mazda CX-7, CX-9

The CX-7 is Mazda's five-passenger, mid-size crossover vehicle. It's defined by its steeply raked (66-degree incline) front glass, curvaceous exterior and sport-tuned drivetrain and suspension.

Power comes from a standard 2.3-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder direct injection (DISI) engine developing 244 horsepower driving through the front wheels or a full-time all-wheel-drive system. It is very similar to the engine used in the now-defunct MazdaSpeed6 sport sedan and it's intended to provide a similar enthusiast driver experience in a vehicle with greater versatility and more room. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard, as are 18-inch wheels.

The CX-7 has an oversize center console storage area that can take a laptop computer, a 39-inch rear cargo area (with the rear seats in place) with a reversible trunk board that can be flipped over to allow dirty items to be carted around without ruining the carpet.

Three trim levels are available: Sport, Touring and Grand Touring. Air conditioning, power windows and locks, cruise control, six airbags, anti-lock brakes, traction control and stability control are included in the base price.

A touch-screen DVD-based navigation system is available, as are a premium Centerpoint surround sound audio system, keyless entry/engine start and Sirius satellite radio.

For 2008, the CX-7 no longer requires the use of premium fuel, though it is still recommended.

Pricing starts from $23,750.
