1997 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado overheating problems

Report a Problem

Date:October 21, 2011, 4:06 pm
Name:Jan Stander
Location:South Africa, Gauteng, Johannesburg
Vehicle:Toyota Land Cruiser Prado
Year:1997
Modification:None 3.0 KZT Diesel engine
General comments:CAr have 230 000 kilos on the clock
Problems:Whenever you drive the car over a distance of 50 kilos or up a long incline, the heat starts increasing and the car start blowing out the water via the radiator overflow. It is as if the pressure in the cooling system increases. It however happens long before the car is overheating. I was told that a radiator modification AFTER replacing the cylinder head gasket would stop the problem. Somebody else warned me that this would influence the flow of water through the system negatively resulting in the front part of the engine staying cool (where the gauge is mounted) whilst the rear will still overheat!?!? Any help please?
Previous car:Mahindra Scorpio
