1996 Opel Astra switches off while driving problems

| Problems: | The car just switches off while driving. Seems worse in traffic, but also happens on freeway. Mechanic doesn't want to commit to diagnosis and says diagnostics won't show fault because it's not consistent. Had 2 guys suggest that it might be the fuel pump. |

| HALLO JOHANN I HAVE ALSO A OPEL KADETTE 1300 1987 AND HAVE THE VERY SAME PROBLEM. I REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP AND TOOK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE BUT THE PROBLEM WERE STILL THERE. IT MUST BE SOMETHING ELSE AND THATS WHY I AM ON THE INTERNET TO SEE IF SOME ONE CAN ALSO HELP ME TO GET MY CAR FIX. REGARDS GERALD |

| I also have the same problem and mechanic are not detect the problem.I am so tired about this because it's make the car consume alots of petrol..please if you have find the soultion get back to me |

| I also had that same problem took a wire from ignition straight to pump and problem was gone that's how I found out it was the relay. |

| i have opel astra estate 1999 i had a problem with gyasket seal and oil leaking i have fixed that problem but now my car while is on it goes off automatically dont know whats wrong can u please help me what to do about this problem i will be appreciate if u suggest me |

| I have an 1995 opel astra 200i the car starts once it gets a bit hot like after 20 minutes it starts to die off and when you accelerate nothing at all happens it starts to die off faster then it switches off any suggestions? |

| my opel dont want to start no spark on the spark plugs or coilpack and the injectors does'nt open problem ocures after changing no1 conrod i think i need a immobelizer box the model is a 1996 1.6 ie hope you can help me |

| Hi recently I have I problem of my opel astra 1992 engine cut off, I checked the fuel feeding the engine it was OK, then checked electrical cable connected to the distributor and their was no electricity then checked electricity from coil also with no electricity so I changed the coil with new used one but the problem remains the same but also in the same time I had glass whipper fuse bellowing off continuously I do not know if it might related to the engine cut off problem or not, please any one can help me in that matter Thanks |

| I'm driving a opel astra 1.6 IE when I pull away in 1st gear when I put it in 2nd gear it loses power like it wanna cut off then when it's under 10 rpm it won't move I have to change to 1st and pull away making sure the car is above 10 rpm then it moves like a bomb!any advice please help????????????? |

| good day i also have the same problem it just started days back, a search i did suggested its either the crankshaft sensor which need to be replaced, the EGR valve which need to be cleaned or a damaged brake savour which blocks air in a way. i need to give these a try. somebody suggested an overheating fuel relay and have already ruled it out as i have bypassed it and it didnt work, just had to wait for the car to cool down then start it again which last sometimes up to 15 minutes. the thing is it only happens when you in low gears after having driven the car for above 30 minutes. 0748259723 |

| Hi please help. I have 2007 model Astra twinport 1.6. The car cuts off power when I apply the lowest gear or neutral while moving. I checked and found that my exhaust manifold cracked but i am not convinced that it's the only problem. |

| hi there my opel astra estate station wagon 99 model my car is serviced engen built again but now its not starting i mean when u start it start sometime but most of the time it doesnt then i have to use kick start.also i went to electrician he said starter is fine.then car came up with another problem that while driving my car it gets off and and all lights comes on.after i try to kick start it doesnt start and when i switch on then i see engen light is start flicking then i have to wait 15 to 20 minutes seems something is hot and cooling down then it start by 1 cell or sometime it start with kick starti went to diagnoss and report says incorrect rpm.can u please advice me what must i do to fix. i will be very thankfull to u |

| My Opel Astra 1.6iE engine switch /stalls while I am driving then I manually start it again it operates correctly then after few meters it repeats the very same thing. I bought a new petrol pump and filter but still doing the same thing. What could the problem be ? |
